My calendar is already cleared in mid-May because I will be going to the annual Noosa International Food & Wine Festival. This four day festival is considered Australia’s leading regional food and wine festival and as a Sunshine Coast local, I feel privileged that this amazing event takes place in my own backyard. The rockstars of the food world will be there doing cooking demonstrations including Stephanie Alexander, Adriano Zumbo, and Poh Ling Yeow. Foodies and critics will converge on Noosa for a celebration of fabulous food and wine peppered throughout the four days with tours and live entertainment.
High on my priority list is to get down to Lion’s Park behind Hastings Street for the multi-sensory event of Maggie Beer and Simon Bryant of The Cook and the Chef fame, cook in sync to an outdoor live concert by an ensemble of fine musicians, the Queensland Virtuosi, and flautist Jane Rutter. Gone are the days when eating out on the Sunshine Coast meant fish and chips from the corner takeaway shop, or when ordering a soy latte would have delivered you a dumbfounded stare. The Noosa International Food and Wine festival is a fabulous foodie event and the Sunshine coast, now home to top-notch waterfront restaurants, and specialised cafes sends a clear message ‘the coast has undergone a gastronomical revolution’.
To celebrate it’s 10th anniversary, the Noosa International Food and Wine Festival 2013 has pulled out all stops with a food, wine and lifestyle program to delight amateur cooks, serious foodies, lifestyle enthusiasts and families alike.
The Sunshine Coast region has undergone a gastronomical revolution.
