Gympie Terrace greets the early morning with a breeze that ripples along the river and a sprinkle of sunlight along the wavelets and sunny diamonds on the dewy grass. The raucus birds screech and wheel above, sulphur crested cockies charge through like a gang of bikers.
Along the morning-golden pavements, with the cooler evening air still hanging, turn right and there's Rimini by the River, a home away from home. The scene totally suits a sillouette shot of a couple walking hand-in-hand. Romance, as we old hands know, is a simple journey, punctuated by things like bush walks, a bag of lollies on the water-front or making a giggly mess of an ice-cream together. And these simple romantic pleasures are where Rimini comes in.
Coffee up
Cecelia and Phil greet us at the reception and we are whisked upstairs to our room which looks out over the balcony to the east, with enough of a view of the river to let you know where you are. All around us are the possibilities for sharing some sacred couple-time. River boating trips at sunset, a dip in the gently passing river, evening promenades along the water-front and quick kisses while gazing over the shimmering moonlight. Rimini's location is perfect for bike riding or walking hand-in-hand. There's the river views, pelicans, passing craft, tooting ferries and even bolted-in exercise equipment for the fit freaks. We tried them of course and looked like freaks of another kind, clearly getting it all wrong and presenting a horribly unco- vision to passers by. In the gum trees, lorikeets seemed to having a ball, chattering away non-stop, and racing off for adventures here and there.
Kersplash...
We wander out for lunch and then back to the rooms for an afternoon settle-in. Out on the balcony, we relax over a civilised cuppa. By late afternoon, Noosa lights are starting to sparkle in the dusk light. Just a few minutes drive to Noosa Main Beach, and all the delights of Hastings Street await. After dinner and back to Rimini where the quiet, almost Parisian feel is mixed with the whiff of a sea breeze filtering through the palms. Still time for a pool dip and a gentle float, watching the sky fade out above us. Rimini is location, location, location. Tucked in here just behind Gympie Terrace, and just a hop and skip to Noosa, its a perfect low fuss, romantic holiday central. Great digs to spend a few days wiling away the hours, with a cute pool, BBQ area too. A great couples getaway? We certainly thought so. This is the romance and magic of the Noosa River where you don't have to say “Remember when we used to...?” At Rimini, you have the time and the clean air to just be in that romantic bubble, not try and recall it.
